Macao, or Macau is a city and special administrative region (autonomous region) on the south coast of China. It lays across the Pearl River Delta from Hong Kong, is only 32.9 km2 (12.7 sq mi) in area, and with a population of over 680,000, it is the most densely populated place in the world.
It has a mix of many cultures, being a Portuguese territory until 1999, though being so close to China. It is renowned for its massive casinos and malls.
10’s of thousands of people are employed in the entertainment industry that revolves around the casinos with many nightly performances of live bands and theater. Famous around the world, productions such as “The House of Dancing Water” and “Crazy Paris Show” bring a staggering 6 million visitors to Macao every year.
